Firefighter: She/He puts out fires.
Cook (chef): She/He cooks food.
Dentist: She/He looks after our teeth.
Plumber: She/He repairs pipes.
Farmer: She/He looks after animals and plants.
Hairdresser: She/He cuts or combs our hair.
Mechanic: She/He repairs cars.
Doctor: She/He looks after our health.
Nurse: She/He takes care of us (patients).
Waitress/Waiter: She/He serves us drinks and food.
Policewoman/Policeman: She/He protects us.
Shop assistant: She/He sells us things.

FISHING

Fishermen use boats, nets and rods to catch fish and other animals. They catch fish in the sea and rivers.
Fishermen are not allowed to catch very small fish; they use special nets so the small fish are safe and can grow.

ANIMAL FARMING

There are different types of animal farming.

Sheeps give us meat and wool.
Cows give us meat, leather and milk.
Hens give us eggs, meat and feathers.
Pigs give us skin and meat.

ARTISANS

There is a special market. The people are making traditional products; they are artisans. What are they making?


FARMING

Farmers look after the land. They grow food and products. They do a lot of different things: they plough the fields, they sow seeds, they fertilise the soil, they harvest the products.


WOODS AND FORESTS

A forest or wood is an area of trees.
There are bushes and grass and a lot of different animals.

THE POLES

It is very cold in the poles.
The sea is frozen. There is snow and ice on the ground. There are no trees.
You can see penguins, polar bears, seals and whales.
Eskimos live in houses made of ice. They are called igloos.

Rainforest are hot. It rains all year. There are a lot of different trees and plants.
There are a lot of different animals: amphibian, birds, reptiles, mammals and insects.
